en liten utställning, min första

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 13:55
Hej!

Välkomna!

FS-Schneider APO-Componon 150mm f4 HM

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 13:50
Hello,

This lens was purchased by my previous employer some 4-5 years ago with the intentions of setting up the 8x10 Fotar in a new (to be built darkroom). There was some question as to whether it fit this enlarger, but SK Grimes could make it fit about anything I guess. I have no real knowledge as to whether it works on this particular enlarger or not as I was not employed with them at the time they purchased it. As far as I knew, it was just this unbelievable piece of glass in a box I used to take out every once in a while and stare at like a Picasso. Last week I was in to say hello and they informed me that they no longer have plans to build the darkroom once planned. It has been sitting in it's original packaging the entire time and never used. It's B-E-A-Utiful and I would like to offer it here for a discount from purchasing basically the same thing for $400-$500 more.

Price: $800.00 usd

Great Film Photography Podcasts

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 13:32
Not sure if there's been a link to these Guys before. Film Photography Podcasts

These are some of the best Film related Podcasts I've heard and are the US equivalent of those from the UK based (but International site) Filmwasters.com.

Some really great stuff, interviews with senior people from Kodak & Freestyle, Maine Photo Workshops etc, and a great mix of topics in each Podcast. Not to be missed in future.

Now we just need some more specific APUG equivalents :D

Way Beyond Monochrome Ed2

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 13:11
To whom it may concern,

the printing schedule for the 2nd edition of Way Beyond Monochrome is on track. Actually, all books are printed and bound, and I'm holding an advanced copy in my hand right now. I'm very pleased with the printing quality and glad to see the first hardcover version of this book in print.

15 advanced copies will be at Photokina in Cologne on Sep, 21st.

The rest of the books are on the boat from Hong Kong to the US right now, which means the official release date of Oct, 15th will be held.

Thanks for all of your support! Attached Images

Resurrection of a Conley 8X10

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 12:50
I have what I believe to be a Conley 8X10 field camera. The name plate is missing, however my research heads me in that direction. At this point my interest is in getting it to the state of being functional, rather than bringing it back to a full restored glory. My initial intention is to get a modified film holder that will allow me to do wet plate, although film might also be in the future. Here is a list of missing parts, some of which are essential and others do not keep it from functioning.

1) Carrying strap. Would be nice but not essential.

2) Name plate. No big deal.

3) Brass strips that hold the lens board in place. Replacements available? If not, what should the thickness of the metal be to fabricate a replacement?

4) Lens board.. Seems to be 5 5/8" X 5". Is this a standard size or something that needs to be custom made?

5) Three knobs. Although everything seems to work correctly, I am misssing one knob on both the front and rear standards and one on the knobs that operates the tilts on the rear standard.

I would appreciate any advice on each of these items, with the most important ones being items number 3 and 4. If anyone has any parts that would work and are available please let me know or if you can head me in the right direction to get them that would be great.

I am not interested in paying someone the big bucks to get this one up, running and restored and I don't mind spending a little to get it back to functioning.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice.

A big blow to film production at Kodak and Fuji

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 12:50
I have just heard of a "silent" revolution affecting all companies making motion picture print films.

As 3D becomes more popular, theaters (except I Max) must convert to digital if they are to show 3D movies. This causes a huge decrease in the demand for color print film and reduces throughput at both Kodak and Fuji.

Another sad day for us.

Kodak 400Cn film and age

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 12:46
I have the opportunity to buy some old 400cn in 120 size that expired date 2006. What is the likelihood of this working out? I can probably get a test roll to try, but I am not experienced in these C 41 process films. the film has been refrigerated, not frozen.

Just heard here in L.A. that there was a big earthquake in N.Z. I hope all fellow APUGers and their loved ones are alright. Being in So Cal I know how upsetting these acts of God can be. Godspeed everyone.

Black Frames from RZ67

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 11:50
I've had an RZ67 for about a month and up until now it's been the best-behaved camera I've used (tied with my f4). But I got a roll of slides back today and two are completely black, not underexposed, but black.

Has anyone experienced this? My best guess is I forgot to remove the dark slide (I do this ALL THE TIME) but the camera is supposed to warn me. Maybe I pressed some button wrong and it didn't? Any help would be appreciated; I lost at least one good shot and don't want to lose any more. My other slides were all normal. It's an old camera I bought used so anything's possible.

Sorry I'm late just found out that I am the host for this one. For Sept. and Oct. the theme is Objects Discarded along roadsides, parking lots, fields, etc. One rule ht objects cannot be staged they must be as you found them. This should be easy, and very interesting. I will post an example tonight or tomorrow. Have fun:)

Making my own HCA

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 10:36
I promised some friends to make them some long overdue FB prints from their wedding. I think I even promised to have them done by monday. Looking through my chemistry set I noticed that I'm out of HCA. All left is some stock Kodak HCA mixed up in march.

To my (meager) understanding HCA is basically table salt. So could I make my own HCA by mixing 2 tablespoons of table salt in 1 L of water? Or should I tell them that "Monday is off. Sorry. The cat ate the developer."

The Laborator has landed

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 08:43
A good friend gave me his 5x7 Laborator 138s yesterday...man what a beast to carry up stairs and through doors! He's still using 4x5, but has decided to go with the ink squirt method of print making and didn't want to see the enlarger get lonely and unused.

As far as I can tell it's the whole shebang, including about ten lamps and a timer from the stone age that goes down to tenths of a second.

Now I just need to connect the electrical outlet and get water into the darkroom...

Anybody have this monster too? Tips?

Christoph Bangert on NYT Lens Blog

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 08:06
http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/0...olice-station/

They describe film as "something new", which I wouldn't! Still, good series of portraits made in Afghanistan with a rollieflex and some tri-x and plus-x. Good to see such work getting attention from the New York Times Lens Blog.
