FS Minolta Auto Meter IV F
This meter has pretty much all the features that you might want, including metering for incident light, reflective light, and electronic flash. It comes with case, strap, reflective light attachment, and complete instruction manual. There are some cosmetic blemishes but the meter has been handled carefully and works perfectly. Photographs show actual meter.

WTB: Nikon SLR
I'm looking for a Nikon SLR for my 9-year-old daughter, who is taking a photo class this summer. Either manual or auto focus would be fine. A package with a 50mm lens would be great too. I am looking for a small and light camera. My F3 is too heavy for her, but she does fine with an FE2.
Thanks!

Trade Crown Graphic for Speed Graphic or other 4x5 camera
Hi there,
Just got photobizz's crown graphic in a trade. It's in primo shape, no lens but otherwise very nice. Bellows appear to be in great shape, graflok back with lens hood, all movements work nicely. Viewfinder appears to work but not calibrated.
I didn't do enough research and realized after the fact that I wanted a speed graphic for the focal plane shutter. And also that I wanted a camera with movements suitable for doing portraits, and that these cameras do not have rotating backs.
So I'm interested in trading this for something along the lines of:
1) your beat up speed graphic that's 100% functional and has a lens (has to have the focal plane shutter)
1a) your ex condition speed graphic with no lens (viewfinder functionality is not a priority for me for either of these)
2) your super speed graphic (only need functional condition, again, not worried about the viewfinder)
3) your wooden 4x5 field camera, could be old (don't need a ton of movements, mostly just want front drop and back tilt - wood cameras with decent bellows are totally acceptable)
4) your 4x5 monorail
and your or my cash or other stuff to fill in the price gaps. Prefer not to have to restore stuff to get it going but will consider your needs work cameras as a possibility.
If there is some way I can have the focal plane shutter with good portrait orientated movements, please let me know!

Trying to remove a lens...
I have a Pentax screw mount with a Super-Takumar 55 f2. I was out trying out the camera ( it was a gimme from my brother-in-law), and I made it through the first 15 or so exposures, and then the shutter jammed. Took everything home, and removed the film and developed it.
I think the camera is a wash. But I would like to salvage the lens.; I have a K1000 and I can get an adapter for the lens. Trouble is, I can unscrew the lens only so far, and then it butts up against something and won't come off. I have tried to get the shutter to complete its interrupted trip, but it sits there in space and I can't get it to let go so I can remove the lens. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this a job for my local camera shop?
Thanks to all who reply.
With best regards.
Steve

"Combi-Plan" for 8x10
This comment on another thread garnered some interest. Instead of hijacking that thread, I thought I'd answer here.
I made this tank a few years ago because I could never trust myself to develop my 8x10 negs in a tray. Not having the patience to tray develop one neg at a time I would invariably scratch them. So I took a good look at my combi-plan and made something similar for 8x10.
The questions from the other thread were:
Q: Is it all metal?
A: No. It's 1/4 inch PVC sheet. It's actually the same material that my darkroom sink is made with. I drew up a schematic and had the local plastics shop cut the pieces. I assembled it myself using PVC cement.
Q: Do I develop my sheets back to back?
A: I will now! :)
Some other Q's and A's:
Q: how much did it cost.
A: About $30 for all the parts.
Q: How do you fill and drain?
A: Using the fill and drain spout on the side. The spout is 3/4 inch PVC pipe cemented onto the side. I open the air vent on the lid when filling and draining to avoid "glug-glugging". It takes about 15 seconds to fill and drain.
Q: How much liquid does it hold?
A: 3.5 Liters. A bit much, but less than other tanks for hangers.
Q: How do you load your film?
A: I load it onto standard Kodak hangers and insert the hangers into slots at the top of the tank.
Q: How do you agitate?
A: Like my Combi-Plan, I grab the two ends and invert once to the left and once to the right. I invert around an axis perpendicular to the plane of the film.
It's also great for stand development in daylight.
Well, hope this answers the questions. Please feel free to post more if you're curious.

SFX 200
BLACK AND WHITE CAMERA FILM WITH EXTENDED RED SENSITIVITY FOR
CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY
DESCRIPTION
ILFORD SFX 200 is a medium speed black and white
camera film for creative photography. It has extended
red sensitivity (up to 740nm) and is especially suited for
use with a filter to create special effects. Using a very
deep red filter, for example the ILFORD SFX filter, skies
can be rendered almost black and most green vegetation
almost white. Its unusual tonal rendition ensures
interesting results for a range of subjects, including
portraits, landscapes, townscapes and architecture.
Best results are often obtained in bright sunshine or in the
studio under tungsten lighting.
SFX 200 also has full panchromatic sensitivity to ensure
good pictorial contrast with or without the use of a filter.
It has a wide exposure latitude, is compatible with all
normal developers and has a wide tonal range.

Canon FT and Nikon FTn Cameras - what to do??
Hello all..
I happened across this forum a few weeks ago and have learned a great deal from all of you people. I have recently inherited a substantial amount of older camera equipment that I am unsure what to do with. I was hoping that some of you could give me a (very) rough idea of what it might be worth (if anything).
I used to be very interested in manual amateur photography in college however, as with many things, time and work took over and there is just no time. Now since it appears that most everything has gone digital my old camera sits idly in my closet. Add to that the recent addition of my father-in-law's equipment I now have too much to handle.
My father in law was in the US Navy and was stationed in Japan for a good part of the late 60's and early 70's. If I remember correctly he purchased his camera and all of the accessories while in Japan (a couple of things still have price tags marked in Yen).
Here is what he left to us:
- Canon FT Camera Body
- Canon 28mm 1:3.5 FL Lens
- Canon 50mm 1:1.4 FL Lens
- Canon 50mm Macro 1:3.5 Lens
- Canon 135mm 1:2.5 FL Lens
- Canon Life Size Adaptor for 50mm Macro Camera Lens
- Vivitar 283 Flash
- Sun Auto Tele-Up 2x Model CA Teleconverter
- Canon Right-Angle Finder A
- Canon T-60-2 Lens Hood
- Canon S-60 Lens Hood
- Canon W-50-B Lens Hood
- Kenko Filters (all 58mm):
Mirage Multivision
Skylight
LBC8
LBW4
LBC12
SY44-2 Y1
SR60-2 R1
LBC4
C.S.
SY50-2 Y3
ND4
P00
SO56-2 YA3
ND8
Softon (2 of these)
- Hoya PL Filter
Also, the following accessories:
- Canon Bellows FL
- Slide Duplicator + Slide Duplicator attachment
- Macro Photo Coupler FL 58mm
- Extension Tube M Set (M5, M10, M20, M20)
For what it's worth, everything functions as it should. I have taken some photos with the camera and lenses and all was well with them (despite my rusty picture-taking abilities). The camera body shows some cosmetic signs of use however most of the filters and other accessories look to have never been used, or merely taken out of the box. The lenses have all covers intact and are scratch-free. Is this set of stuff worth anything to anyone or is it more relics of a bygone era?
Here is a list of my personal camera stuff (not nearly as impressive)
- Nikon Nikkormat FTn Camera Body
- Nikon Nikkor-H 28mm 1:3.5 Lens
- Nikon Nikkor-H 50mm 1:2 Lens
- Vivitar DL 75mm - 205mm 1:3.8-4.8 MC Macro Focusing Zoom Lens
Same deal here - worth anything more than a doorstop?
Thanks for any advice you can offer on this stuff - I am truly lost.

Shoulder/waist bag for Mamiya 6 with 50, 75, 150 lenses
I soon should become an owner of Mamiya 6 with 3 lenses (few weeks to wait). Now I am wondering what kind of bag would be a good match to it.
The usage:
During short day trips (cities, seaside). For long trips I use a backpack. I am unsure how much weather protection should the bag offer.
What I expect:
Apart from the camera and lenses there should be space for 5 - 10 films, cable release, cleaning cloth, close-up adjustment, small notebook (A5 at most) and possibly a small pocket where some personal documents and wallet could be stored (A6 size). To have a side pocket for 0.5l bottle would be great too.
The bag I have is the Crumpler Stunner. While it is VERY strong and very well made it has a bit too little space for the accessories (only one external pocket). It is also quite bulky for what fits inside (a bit too "over-designed" I would say)
I am considering different products - from "classical" camera bags (Crumpler, Lowepro, Thinktank, etc.) to leather bags like this or this - these are maybe a bit less protective (though some custom insert could be made), but I like the look.
So I would like to ask - what do you use for your Mamiya 6 (or 7 or RF645)? If you would have a photo of your camera it the bag it would be great! :)

FS- Canon Film Chamber-250 /Film Loader-250/Connecting Cord for Grip MF/ Interval Tim
I recently found a beautiful original style F1 that came with many accessories, all in their original boxes, most with manuals. I do not ever foresee shooting bulk film from the camera, nor do I have the Servo EE finder, so I offer this gear to someone who can use it.
The attached pictures show everything that comes in the boxes. I dont think either of the film units were ever used. If they were it was but a handful of times. The protective plastic is still on the front of the loader.
The pressure plate on the film chamber appears untouched. New foam will likely need to be put in the chamber, as it is beginning to crumble and flake from age. In several places the foam is gone.
$450.00 plus shipping. Pay Pal works best for me. Ill donate some back to APUG.
Thanks for looking, and please send me a personal message if you are interested or have questions.
I will be out of town and away from email and internet connections to get messages during the first part of the week beginning July 12.

My new Voigtlander Prominent
Just this morning, $10 at a yard sale. 50 f/2 Ultron
Didn't really know what I bought til I got home, but of course anything with Voigtlander on it has to be worth $10 :D
Now I'm excited to go shoot some film today with this, despite the operating quirks I've read about. Took me a good 10 minutes just to figure out where the focus knob was :D
Body needs a dust off, but the lens wore a filter and hasn't a mark on her.
Fun!
Oh yea, also there is no accessory shoe on mine .. just a flat plate with the name ... so is this a true Prominent 1 and not a 1a etc? I know its not a II

Out of date colour negative film and image quality
On the vast majority of occasions I make sure to use in-date film and not something found "at the back of the cupboard", especially 400 speed colour negative film. However, I did recently shoot and process some 2008 dated Kodak Portra 400VC and was surprised to see how grainy the results were, especially considering the film has been re-fridgerated for most of those two years.
Nikon LS-9000 scan @ 4000 DPI, 100% crop:
Is this level of grain what one should generally expect from a 2 year out-of-date colour negative film? I don't have my Thermaphot set up for RA-4 work at the moment to make an optical print comparison.

Using 6x6 neg carrier for 645 negs
I've been wondering about this for a while....
I use Omega D-II with a 6x6 neg carrier to do 645 films. (I don't own 645 carriers) I don't use any masks or anything to cover the blank area. My reasoning is, since I use easel and never print film borders, it wouldn't make any difference. I've never experienced any obvious problems either. I also reasoned, this is more like having HUGE shadow area on both side of 6x6....
Is there a reason why many folks here recommend making mask to do such thing? What am I missing?

Nikon FG - focussing issues
Dear all
I came across a rather nice looking FG and couldn´t resist. Now it´s here and I have a problem :
The first thing I did, was checking the exposure meter and focussing against my trusty F2s´. The
exposure meter seems to work alright but the focussing is constantly short i.e. F2 1.2meter - FG 0.8m
F2 4m - FG 3.5m, and so on up to infinity. Focussing is short on all lenses. My question now is :
How big is the chance that pictures will be out of focus when something like that happens ?
Is it worth a few test shots or shell I return the camera (which I can) and not bother further ?
